Magcam, with headquarters in Leuven, Belgium, is a high tech company offering a unique Magnetic Field Camera (Magcam) measurement system. The Magcam magnetic field camera measurement platform is an advanced digital matrix magnetic field sensor that measures three-dimensional magnetic field maps with high spatial resolution at high speed. The Magcam magnetic field maps are analyzed in real time using Magcam's powerful MagScope software.
Applications include R&D, in-line production inspection and incoming/outgoing quality control of permanent magnets and magnetic assemblies, including the full magnetization vector and its deviation angle for uniaxial magnets, multipole magnet inspection, magnet homogeneity inspection, general magnetic field mapping and magnetic materials research. Magcam's customers include automotive subassembly OEMs, sensor manufacturers, loudspeaker manufacturers, consumer electronics OEMs, magnet producers and suppliers, rotor/motor/generator constructors, medical equipment manufacturers, universities, research labs and more.
Magcam offers a product range consisting of measurement hardware, advanced data analysis software, automation software as well as measurement services, feasibility studies and development projects.
Magcam was founded in 2009 as a spin-off company of IMEC in Leuven, Belgium.
In 2010, Magcam started selling its first commercial products and started getting recognition in the market. Through direct selling and participation in focused trade shows, it expanded its customer base throughout the world. At the end of 2011, Magcam signed a reseller agreement with ARGO Corporation of Japan. ARGO covers the Japanese market.
Magcam's magnetic field camera was awarded the 1st place at the election of the 'Produkte des Jahres 2012' in the category 'Sensoren' by the readers of the leading German journal for industrial electronics 'Elektronik'. This further increased Magcam’s name recognition in the European market.
In 2013, Magcam released its second-generation magnetic field camera system. The hardware system is even easier to use and the MagScope software boasts a number of new features to extract unprecedented information out of permanent magnets. Towards the end of the year, world's first 3D camera was released, making it possible to measure the Bx, By and Bz at the same time to create a true 3D image of the magnetic field distribution.
Early in 2014, Magcam signed a representative agreement with Candoo Systems out of Vancouver, Canada. Candoo Systems covers Canada and the North-West region of North America. In the Spring, Magcam released a major upgrade of its MagScope software, which includes a number of useful new features and integrates the MagFit software module. Furthermore in 2014, Magcam released its large area magnetic field scanners to make it possible to measure larger magnets and magnet assemblies: the Magcam Portal Scanner for large flat magnets and assemblies and the Rotor Scanner for permanent magnet rotors. In October, Magcam signed a reseller agreement with BM Instruments in Seoul, S. Korea to increase presence and market share in South Korea.
In the fourth quarter of 2015, Magcam signed up two additional resellers to expand presence and increase business in Asia:
In Taiwan, we have an agreement with Sadhu Sadhu Design Corporation in Hsinchu City, near Taipei.
In China, we have an agreement with Shanghai Cwopto Technology CO., Ltd in Shanghai.
In January of 2016, Magcam released the new Magscope software version 4.4 to share with our customers all the new features and capabilities added since the previous major release in 2014. At the end of 2016, Magcam reached a reseller agreement with 360 Magnetics in Morgan Hill, CA, USA. Their existing activities in our target markets will enable us to grow our customer base in the US quickly.
Throughout 2016 and 2017, Magcam has been developing its newest generation of magnetic field scanners, featuring a fully integrated stand-alone system with design safety housing and a combined Portal/Rotor scanner, to be released later in 2017.
