- Zero crossing detection on a circle
Zero crossing detection on a circle
Some applications require to e.g. cut out a pole of a ring magnet, but the ring can be arbitrarily oriented along the angular direction, which makes it impossible to know where the poles will be exactly. In the 2DPlot Section cutouts can be defined based on zero crossings that are automatically detected.
- Add a circle that runs through the zero crossings (typically in the middle of a multipole magnet ring, halfway between the inner and outer diameters).
- Press the symbol next to the circle parameters in the Element Panel. The zero crossings are automatically detectedand a radial line is shown for each cross section. Also the angular positions and intervals between consecutive cross sections are displayed in the Element Panel (see right hand side in the image below).
- If a segment is defined (i.e. a cut-out of the image), using the automatically detected radial lines it is automatically updated to match the new position of the radial lines.
